NLPS Curriculum:

Personal Development, Health and Physical Education

Students at New Lambton Public School actively participate in the eight areas of activities as set out in the PDHPE K-6 Syllabus.

 

Active Lifestyle

Students participate in PE skills programs and Daily PE

 

Dance

New Lambton has an active Dance program across the school. The students have the opportunities to participate in Grade dance activities, Infants, Junior, Senior and Boys dance groups. The dance groups are part of the highly successful “StarStruck” display. 

 

Games and Sport

In Kindergarten to Year 2, skills are developed for participation in basic games and activities and 

recreational pastimes. Movement skills are applied in fun games and activities such as obstacle courses and ball games. All students have access to close by sporting facilities.
 

NLPS offers an extensive range of team sports in which to participate. The school enters and is very successful in State PSSA competitions (several state championship teams), Local Inter school PSSA competitions, external competitions (Knight KO) and gala days. Individuals compete in Swimming, Cross Country, and Athletics at School, Zone, Regional and State level with a great deal of success. NLPS offers a balanced, rotational sports program for students every Friday. They participate in a wide range of sports at local and external venues. NLPS offers highly qualified coaching through it staff and access to external expertise when needed for coaching and training. 

 

Growth and Development/ Interpersonal Relationships

Sequenced learning activities are provided through the PD lesson to educate each child about their age relevant personal development and ways to positively relate to others. “Interrelate” is offered to the older students as part of their PD sex education program.

 

Gymnastics

Gymnastics is offered to all students on a rotation basis, to all students Year 2 to Year 6. This is currently taught by qualified staff at the Hunter Sports Centre.

 

Personal Health Choices/ Safe Living

Mandatory, sequenced activities in Drug Education and Child Protection are provided to every child at NLPS.  Information on our programs is coming soon.
